We started working on the house on January 1st and needed to move out of our apartment by Feb 1st
We DID it!

  1. A wonderful example of how alot of sweat equity in a very short time (and obviously some real talent), can transform an ordinary house into a lovely home.

  5. Wow. I loved watching that. Your mobile home is so much bigger than our house here in California. We have two kids...I just can't get over what you did. Seriously, 30 days??

  6. Since we will not be living in this area when we retire, we are placing our home on the market in the spring and are doing exactly what you all have done. This is our "plan B" toward preparing for retirement in about 8 years. We are hoping this will free up even more money to put toward our retirement. We will be using your site for much needed guidance as we go through the process. Thanks so much for sharing this, it has given us the courage to move forward!

    1. Thank you for visiting my blog and best wishes as you move toward your retirement. We couldn't have done this without God's help...and feel so blessed and content to be living where we are.

  8. Thanks so much for this. You do not even know how helpful you have been. We are ready to sign a purchase and sales on a single wide 3 bedroom for 10,000.00 Out her in New Hampshire that is cheap cheap cheap. We want to do some remodeling but I was so scared until I read your blog. Like i said you have no idea how much you have helped already.

    1. Thank you so much for your sweet note. Your new home does sound like a good deal...That's what makes mobile home living so nice...it's affordable. We've never regretted buying our mobile home and hope you'll feel the same about yours.

I noticed you had asked about the cost of our remodel... I'm guessing we spent around 10,000 by the time we replaced all the flooring, appliances & heating/Air. Fortunately we had cash from the sale of our previous home to pay for it all. The big ticket items were definitely our largest expense; everything else wasn't to bad because we were able to purchase things a little bit at a time. Plus...we were able to take advantage of closeouts at big box stores as well stores like Habitat for Humanity. My email address is geneva@my-hearts-song.com and I'd love for you to stay in contact with me as you're working on your home.
      Blessings!!!!

  9. One thing. Can you estimate how much the remodel cost?

  10. You've given me such enormous hope after watching this! My husband and are are soon to be empty-nesters. We're relocating from TX to Oregon, and plan on taking the money from the sale of our enormous home and purchasing a mobile home.

Quite frankly, I was incredibly worried because I've heard so many downsides to finding parts/cabinetry ect, and repainting walls covered in wallpaper and the molding. we're both pretty handy, so seeing this alleviated many of my fears!

I plan to refer to your blog often in the coming months! Many, many thanks :)

  11. Absolutely wonderful! I recently purchased a regular home not a mobile home for a very low price but it needs serious help lol! You and your husband do amazing work and are a true inspiration! Your home is fabulous! I have those same weird cabinets in my home now because of you I know just how to paint them! Congrats on your retirement but honestly I think you missed your calling as a decorator and design master!

  12. I love what you did. My wife and I just inherited my late father's FL doublewide 20'X40' and we also plan on renovating the structure it's a 2 bdrm 2 bath home. What size is yours length and width wise? We have a Florida room on the back and are thinking of having it extended at least 10'out for some more Square footage with the possible addition of modular container office space and an extra bedroom as separate structures on the property. Wife wants a new functional kitchen opening into the FL room if that's structurally possible? Also redo all the walls and rooms like you've done with some new doors and windows etc. Your place is beautiful, I hope we can make ours look as nice. God blessed us as well when he gave us this home and so did my father.

  15. 🌹Absolutely beautiful. We too retired and purchased a mobile home. Unfortunately, my husband isn't as crafty so we hired out for laminated flooring throughout 2000sqft, new roof, doors, toliets, faucets, water heater, and furnace. This 4bdrm/2 bath and it was worth it. And it took 2 yrs to get it mostly livable. One last thing the kitchen walls. Thank you guys Soooo much. Learning though your eyes make this last step a lot easier. Continue to be Blessed.
